Liposuction is a proven and effective technique for removing unwanted fat deposits. Many people have unwanted reserves on their stomach, hips, waist, thighs or neck, for example. Liposuction can restore the desired body contour and only requires very small incisions, resulting in barely visible to invisible scars. In order to achieve ideal results, a certain degree of skin elasticity is advantageous.

  • Suitability

    Patients who suffer from unwanted fat deposits, e.g. on the abdomen, hips, waist, thighs or neck, are suitable candidates for liposuction. The skin should have a certain degree of firmness so that it can retract after liposuction. Good general health is an advantage. Certain medications such as blood thinners must be discontinued before the procedure.

  • Consultation

    During an initial consultation at the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery, we determine whether liposuction can lead to the desired result. If there is significant excess skin, we will discuss alternative treatment options with you. Together, we can develop a precise treatment plan to achieve a beautiful result that fulfils your wishes. If you decide in favour of a procedure, a further consultation will follow to discuss any questions you may have and to plan the procedure.

  • Intervention

    Liposuction is performed on an outpatient basis, which means that you only have to come to the clinic for the day of the operation. The previously defined areas to be treated are marked. The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic with a twilight sedation.

    Only very small incisions are required for the procedure. After liposuction, the result is checked while standing. Minor irregularities can only be detected and corrected while the patient is standing so that the result is perfect.

    Once the procedure is complete, a bandage, compression trousers or a Velcro strap is applied to the abdomen for compression.

  • Aftercare

    You will be able to leave the clinic a few hours after the operation, accompanied by an escort. As a rule, little or no pain is to be expected after the operation. You can shower again 1 to 2 days after the procedure. Depending on the extent of the liposuction, you can return to work after a few days.

    The compression trousers or compression belt must be worn for one month. The treated areas are swollen at the beginning. The final result is achieved after 3 to 6 months.
