Contour deformities such as "hip dips" can be corrected and permanent results achieved with autologous fat transfer.

Accidents, weight fluctuations or even genetic disposition can lead to contour deformities on the body. A classic example of this is so-called "hip dips". An autologous fat transfer can restore the desired body contour by removing fat from a desired area (e.g. the abdomen) and transferring it to another region where more volume is required. Once the fat has healed, the result is permanent.

Overview

Patients who wish to increase the volume of a specific area

Surgery duration: from 1 hour

Work possible after 1-2 weeks

Sport possible after 4-6 weeks

  • Suitability

Patients who suffer from disturbing volume deficits, e.g. in the hips (hip dips), breasts or buttocks, are suitable for an autologous fat transfer. It is essential for the procedure that sufficient autologous fat is available for harvesting. A good general condition is an advantage. Certain medications such as blood thinners must be discontinued before the procedure.

  • Consultation

During an initial consultation at the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery, we determine which areas are problematic and whether they are suitable for an autologous fat transfer. Depending on the desired volume, we will discuss whether you have sufficient autologous fat available for removal. A precise treatment plan can then be drawn up together in order to achieve a beautiful result that fulfils your wishes.

If you decide in favour of a procedure, a further consultation will follow to discuss any questions you may have and to plan the procedure.

  • Intervention

An autologous fat transfer is performed on an outpatient basis. This means that you only come to the clinic for the day of the operation. The areas to be treated are marked out in advance.

The procedure is performed under local anaesthetic with a twilight sedation. Only very small incisions are required for the procedure. Firstly, fat is suctioned from the areas discussed and processed. This is then injected into the desired areas.

  • Aftercare

You will be able to leave the clinic a few hours after the operation, accompanied by an escort. As a rule, little or no pain is to be expected after the operation. You can shower again 1 to 2 days after the procedure. Pressure should be avoided in the area where the fat was inserted. Depending on the extent of the procedure, you may be able to return to work after a few days.

Depending on the treated area, compression trousers or a compression belt will be applied, which should be worn for a month. The treated areas are swollen at the beginning. The final result is visible after 3 to 6 months.
