Buccal Fat Removal creates slimmer cheeks and emphasises bone contours without visible scars.

Many people wish for a harmonious face with well-defined cheekbones and visible contours. Some people suffer from full cheeks, which make the face appear wider. One possible cause of this can be a large cheek fat body (Bichat fat body). A small incision in the oral cavity, which leaves no visible scars, can be used to reduce the size of this fat body (buccal fat removal). This leads to a narrowing of the cheek area and at the same time the cheekbones become more prominent. As a result, a slimmer facial appearance can be achieved.

  • Suitability

Buccal fat removal is suitable for people who wish to slim down the cheek area if there is an excess of fat. Under certain circumstances, accentuation of the cheekbones or jawline can also be beneficial. Certain medications such as blood thinners may need to be discontinued before the procedure.

  • Consultation

During an initial consultation at the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery, we will discuss the various non-invasive and surgical treatment options for reducing the cheek area with you in detail. Together, we can develop a precise treatment plan to achieve a beautiful result that fulfils your wishes. If you decide in favour of surgery, a further consultation will follow to discuss any questions you may have and to plan the procedure.

  • Intervention

Buccal fat removal is performed under local anaesthetic, supplemented by a light sedation if desired. A small incision is made on both sides of the mouth. The fat body is then located and reduced in size. As the incisions are only in the mouth, the scars are not visible from the outside.

  • Aftercare

After buccal fat removal, you will spend the first two to three hours in our clinic. Your upper body will be elevated to limit swelling as much as possible. You can leave the clinic a few hours after the procedure. The pain is usually minimal. Soft food should be favoured until the wound has completely healed. Teeth should be brushed carefully. The stitches dissolve on their own. The scars are located in the mouth and are not visible from the outside.
