Beautiful and full lips symbolise youthfulness and sensuality. Over time, the upper lip can become lower and longer, causing the red part of the lip to become thinner and less visible. This can contribute to a tired and sad expression.
These changes can be corrected with a lip lift, which is performed on an outpatient basis and under local anaesthetic. A lift of the upper lip (Liplift, Bullhorn Liplift, BLL) is a minor procedure with a major effect. The upper lip is lifted through a fine incision below the nose, planned with millimetre precision. This makes the red part of the lip more visible and fuller again, while at the same time reducing the length of the upper lip. As the scar runs along natural lines, it is barely visible.

Suitability
An upper lip lift is suitable for people who want a fuller, more youthful upper lip or if the lip has drooped due to age. Certain medications such as blood thinners may need to be discontinued before the procedure.

Consultation
During an initial consultation at the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery, we will discuss the various non-invasive and surgical treatment options for lip rejuvenation in detail. Together, we can develop a precise treatment plan to achieve a beautiful result that fulfils your wishes. If you decide in favour of a procedure, a further consultation will follow to discuss any questions you may have and to plan the procedure.

Intervention
A lip lift is performed under local anaesthetic, supplemented with a light sedation if desired. A fine incision is made below the nose. This determines how much the upper lip should be lifted. At the end of the procedure, the edges of the wound are precisely sutured with a fine thread. The scar runs along natural lines below the nose and is therefore barely or not at all visible.

Aftercare
After an upper lip lift, you will spend the first 2 to 3 hours in our clinic. Your upper body will be elevated to limit swelling as much as possible. You can leave the clinic a few hours after the procedure. The pain is usually minimal. The upper lip should be protected until the wound has completely healed (when speaking, laughing, eating, brushing teeth). The stitches are removed approximately 7 days after the lip lift. The scars are practically invisible after complete healing.
