A neck lift corrects the sagging neck area, removes excess fatty tissue and tightens the neck muscles and skin. Sagging skin, platysma folds and excess fat can cause considerable discomfort, and a neck lift can eliminate these changes. A well-defined, youthful neck area is restored. The optimal treatment technique must be chosen individually. Both surgical and non-surgical techniques are possible.

  • Suitability

    The procedure is suitable for people over the age of 40 and into old age. Good general health is an advantage. If possible, those who wish to have a neck lift should not smoke (or avoid smoking before the operation). Certain medications such as blood thinners must be discontinued before the procedure.

  • Consultation

    During an initial consultation at the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery, we will discuss in detail what you no longer like about your neck. A neck lift is a highly individualised operation that is tailored to your needs. We will discuss the various non-surgical and surgical treatment options. Together we can work out a precise treatment plan to achieve a beautiful result that fulfils your wishes. If you decide in favour of a neck lift, a further consultation will follow to discuss any questions you may have and to plan the procedure.

  • Intervention

    The procedure usually takes 3 to 4 hours and can be performed either under local anaesthetic with twilight sleep or under general anaesthetic. A neck lift often involves much more than just tightening the skin. Parts of the neck muscles are usually remodelled and excess fat removed. The scars are positioned so that they are barely visible later on. By gently lifting the soft tissues of the neck, excellent, natural and long-lasting results can be achieved.

  • Aftercare

    After the procedure, you will spend the night in the clinic, where you will be closely monitored. The following morning, the dressing will be removed and your hair washed. You can then leave the clinic without a dressing. Your neck will be slightly swollen, but you will already look younger. The stitches will be removed after 5 to 10 days. You can return to work after 1 to 2 weeks. Sport is possible again after 4 weeks. The initial swelling disappears within a few weeks. The final and permanent result is then achieved.
