A facelift can achieve a rejuvenated face and a fresh expression. It corrects sagging cheeks and neck, removes excess fat and tightens muscles and skin. The facelift is a speciality of the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery. With our technique, we achieve particularly natural and long-lasting results.

Overview

Recommended from the age of 40

Duration of surgery: 3–4 hours

Work possible after 1-2 weeks

Sport possible after 4 weeks

  • Suitability

There is no age limit for a facelift. The procedure is suitable for people over the age of 40 and into old age. Good general health is an advantage. If possible, those who wish to undergo a facelift should not smoke (or avoid smoking before the operation). Certain medications, such as blood thinners, must be discontinued before the procedure.

  • Consultation

During an initial consultation at the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery, we will discuss in detail what you no longer like about your face. A facelift is a highly individualised operation tailored to your needs. We will discuss the various non-surgical and surgical treatment options. Together we can work out a precise treatment plan to achieve a beautiful result that fulfils your wishes. If you decide in favour of a facelift, a further consultation will follow to discuss any questions you may have and to plan the procedure.

  • Intervention

The procedure usually takes 3 to 4 hours and can be performed either under local anaesthetic with twilight sleep or under general anaesthetic. A modern lift involves much more than just tightening the skin. Depending on requirements, different layers of the face are lifted, fat is removed from certain areas and, if necessary, added in other places. The scars in front of and behind the ear are positioned so that they are barely visible later on. Excellent, natural and long-lasting results can be achieved by gently lifting the soft tissues of the face.

  • Aftercare

After the procedure, you will spend the night in the clinic, where you will be closely monitored. The following morning, the dressing will be removed and your hair washed. You can then leave the clinic without a dressing. Although your face will be slightly swollen, you will already look younger. The stitches are removed after 5 to 10 days. You can return to work after 1 to 2 weeks. Sport and strenuous activity are possible again after 4 weeks. The initial swelling disappears within a few weeks. The final and permanent result is then achieved.
