Breast augmentation is one of the most frequently performed cosmetic operations. Most women want a natural-looking, larger breast that fits their body. Breast augmentation can be performed with an implant or with autologous fat, and there are various methods of breast augmentation. The optimal technique will be evaluated with you during an initial consultation.

Suitability
The procedure is suitable for patients who wish to have larger breasts. A good breast shape is a prerequisite for breast augmentation alone. Otherwise, an augmentation can also be combined with a lift or shape correction.
Good general health is an advantage. Certain medications such as blood thinners must be discontinued before the procedure.

Consultation
During an initial consultation, we discuss the various surgical methods in detail. A 3D simulation allows you to see what the result might look like.
If you decide in favour of surgery, a further consultation will follow to discuss any questions and plan the procedure in detail.

Intervention
Breast augmentation is often performed under anaesthetic. Alternatively, a local anaesthetic with twilight sleep is also possible.
At the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery, high-quality, gel-filled silicone implants are used for breast augmentation. The modern, highly viscous gel cannot leak. PU (polyurethane) coated implants offer an alternative. The advantage of PU implants is that capsular fibrosis occurs less frequently. With both types of implant, the augmented breast looks attractive and feels very natural.
Depending on the situation and the size of the existing mammary gland, the implant is positioned above or below the pectoral muscle. The optimal position is discussed during the preliminary consultation.
The breast implant can be inserted via various possible surgical approaches. The most common method is insertion via a small incision in the crease under the breast. Alternatively, an incision can be made at the edge of the areola or in the armpit. At the Clinic for Aesthetic Surgery, we regularly practise the method in which the implants are inserted through a small incision in the armpit. The advantage of this breast augmentation technique is that there is no scar on the breast.

Aftercare
Breast augmentation is usually performed on an outpatient basis, which means that you can leave the clinic on the day of the operation. An overnight stay is of course possible on request.
After 24 hours, the first dressing is changed and the drains are removed.
You will be given a special bra and a Velcro band to stabilise the breast. You will be able to wear a bra of your choice approximately one week after the operation. This must be worn at least during the day for the first two months. Work in the office can be resumed after 5 to 7 days, for physically strenuous work you should wait 1 to 2 weeks. Sport can be resumed after 4 to 6 weeks.
Try on your new body
With augmented reality (AR), you can try on your new look and see the changes on your own virtual body.
This is how it works:
Three photos are taken of your upper body using a tablet. Using the augmented reality tool, we can then simulate different implant sizes. You can view the possible results both on a 3D model and on the photos previously taken and processed by the tool.
