Hair loss is a common phenomenon and can lead to considerable suffering. Hair loss can begin at a young age and is usually progressive. Men are most frequently affected, with receding hairlines usually developing on the sides of the forehead first.

Over time, the hairless area can extend further to the back of the head. However, hair loss can also affect women. Causes of hair loss include a hereditary predisposition and hormonal changes. Not all regions of the scalp are affected by hair loss. For example, hair growth in the area of the hairline is usually retained, which is utilised in hair transplantation. Hair transplantation, which is carried out without prior shaving, is the most permanent and cosmetically convincing treatment for hair loss. Hairless scarred areas, e.g. after accidents, burns or operations, can also cause a great deal of suffering. Hair transplantation can also be used here.

  • Suitability

Patients who suffer from hair loss and still have sufficient residual hair.

  • Consultation

During a consultation, we will discuss whether you are suitable for a hair transplant. We will also assess whether several sessions are necessary and how much the treatment would cost.

  • Treatment

The treatment is performed on an outpatient basis under local anaesthetic and is therefore painless. The hair is not shaved. From the donor area at the hairline, whose hair follicles are not affected by the genetically determined growth arrest, small skin islands of approx. 5 millimetres in diameter are removed together with the hair roots. The resulting wound area is closed with a fine skin suture.

This is followed by splitting. This means that the previously harvested grafts are divided into smaller fine grafts. Small islands of skin are then removed from the hairless area. The fine grafts are then inserted into the resulting gaps. Thanks to the excellent blood supply to the scalp, the transplanted hair heals into the scalp without complications and is firmly anchored after just a few days.

The size and arrangement of the individual grafts significantly determine the final result. Both the experience and creativity of the surgeon are of decisive importance. The aim is always to achieve natural-looking hair growth in the place of the former bald patch.

  • Aftercare

A hair transplant is an outpatient procedure, which means that you can leave the clinic after the operation with a bandage around your head. As a rule, you will be checked the next day and the dressing will be removed. Crust formation is a normal reaction to wound healing. You will be given instructions on how to care for the hair and scabs. After 2 to 3 months, the first new hairs will begin to grow. The final result is achieved after approx. 6 months.
